The ontology release criteria are a compilation of the rules and artifacts that constitute the release of an ontology (or versioned ontology module? tbd), and are key considerations in the planning, verifying, testing and release of an ontology. The criteria are a static view of the requirements for a release than about the what an ontology developer or agent might do with them during the various stages of developing an ontology – activities that are described separately in this portal under the processes areas mentioned. Furthermore, a clear distinction is made in the wording describing a criterion as to whether it is required element (“must”) or desired (“should”).
NOTE: For now, the release criteria are imported in this Wiki page as a Microsoft Word document with redlining and comment tracking activated. To add comments or make revisions, please download the Word document to your desktop, make changes/comments, and then upload a new document version to this portal/Wiki page. Once the criteria are stable (meaning we have adopted them), we’ll update this page and copy in the content to the Wiki page. To access the most recent version of the MS Word document, you’ll have to click on the “…” Confluence icon in the top right of your screen (see screen-shot below), then select “Attachments,” and then scroll down and open up the most recent version of this document. Let’s see how well this process works (or not), and perhaps in the future we’ll just have to some other way of doing team reviews/commenting of a work-in-progress document:-(
